What is meteorology?

Meteorology is the science that studies the atmosphere and the phenomena that occur in it. Its main objective is to understand and predict atmospheric conditions, including temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed and direction, precipitation and other elements related to climate and weather. The prediction of weather events depends on decision making, such as for agriculture, maritime or air navigation, and even more so when extreme events, such as hurricanes or floods, are crucial for public safety. Early warnings can save lives and reduce the impact of natural disasters.
In our day-to-day lives, weather forecasts allow us to plan our daily activities. Knowing whether it is going to be sunny, rainy or snowy is crucial for any type of activity. Without going any further we have it presnte these days of Holy Week, where millions of people consult the predictions to know if the brotherhoods go out to the street or know if they can go out on route if they are in the mountains. Whatever you do, it is essential information.

What is the weather like in Cadiz?

The province of Cadiz, due to its location at the southern tip of the peninsula, has a privileged climate. Its more than 3000 hours of sunshine per year and its 18.2 average temperature. It is a typical Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influences, characterized by mild temperatures and low rainfall. The influence of the sea causes a thermoregulatory effect on temperatures, long, hot and dry summers, and mild and humid winters.

Precipitation in the province of Cadiz

Rainfall in the province is very uneven, on the west coast about 500 mm and in the Sierra de Grazalema over 2,000 mm, the point of highest rainfall in Spain.

The wind in Cádiz: Levante and Poniente

We cannot forget the winds, the poniente which comes from the west - southwest, they are humid and fresh and can cause rainfall. The easterly comes from the Saharan depression, so they are warm and dry. The easterly is very strong in the strait, so Tarifa is a paradise for sports such as windsurfing and has the first wind farm in Spain.
