Information about 4x4 route through the marshes of the Guadalquivir - Doñana Natural Park

We start the route heading northwest towards the Guadalquivir River, first passing through some of the most representative vineyards of the Jerez area; Carrascal and Macharnudo, making a brief stop to observe the landscape of the vineyards. Once we leave the vineyards, we come to a small hill where one of the most important archaeological sites of Western Andalusia "Asta Regia", an ancient city that may date back to between 1250 - 850 BC and was inhabited until the 10th century AD. It was possibly occupied by the Tartessians and other peoples until the Islamic period.

We continue our route along roads that in the rainy season turn into marshes and we arrive at Trebujena, a wine-growing village par excellence, its vineyards are located on hills with spectacular views of the Guadalquivir River. From this point we will begin to observe a great variety of birdlife that will accompany us until we reach Sanlúcar. We will be able to see passing ships heading for Seville or the open sea that seem to be sailing over land.

Without leaving the riverbank, we enter the marshlands of the Natural Park that are lost in the horizon, until we come to a pine forest where several species of birds nest, such as the spoonbill and the black kite. Here we will have our classic aperitif with Cayetano del Pino wine.

We finish our route in Sanlúcar de Bda. where the river Guadalquivir flows into the river, with the Coto de Doñana in the background. We then return to the point of origin.
