Forest Day

Forests regulate our climate, clean the air we breathe and filter the water we drink. They also provide habitat for more than two-thirds of the world's wildlife and terrestrial plants.  They are one of our most important resources, providing a renewable supply of the materials and products we need.

Spain is positioned as the second country in the EU with the second largest forest area, more than 37%, behind Sweden and clearly increasing in recent decades.

On the other hand, 40% of the Spanish forests are included in the network of Protected Natural Spaces; a total of 11.1 million hectares, of which more than 7 million correspond to wooded areas.

The province of Cadiz is the one that has, in proportion, more protected areas in Andalusia, with 31% of its territory and the largest and best preserved cork oak forest mass in Europe, "The last Mediterranean forest".

It is the task of all of us to continue respecting and conserving our forests, it is our legacy and the following generations should find it equally or better.
